My first book!

If you happened across my blog and wondered why there weren’t any new posts for awhile, it’s probably because I’ve been writing for children. I’m still teaching elementary music full-time, but I’m also pursuing my love of writing. There’s even a book to show for it! And that’s not all. I’ve written two more books for the same company that will be published next fall.

My first book, Silentó: Breakout Rapper, was published by The Child’s World on August 1, 2017. It’s a biography of Ricky Lamar Hawk, also known as Silentó, the artist who brought us “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).” This book is broken into four chapters and written at a third grade reading level. The design team did a wonderful job with the photos and graphics, too! This would be a great book to share with your students to encourage composition and creativity.
